Fitness enthusiast and reviewer from Toronto

The Short Version

I am Liam Brown, based in Toronto, and I have spent the last few years documenting my experiences at fitness clubs across Canada.

This site exists because I got tired of choosing gyms based on ads and vague recommendations, only to discover the reality differed from expectations. I wanted specific, honest information about what these places were actually like. Since I could not find it, I decided to create it.

How This Started

My fitness routine kicked off at a modest gym near 123 Fitness Ave in Toronto. It wasn’t flawless, but it was reachable, budget-friendly, and it helped me stay consistent.

After that place closed, I saw how rapidly the fitness scene in Canada was evolving. New clubs launched, fresh concepts emerged, and marketing grew louder than the actual member experience.

I began experimenting with various gyms and classes, jotting down notes after each visit. Gradually those notes became this site, created to help others make better-informed choices.

My Approach to Reviews

Every review here comes from actual visits and time spent inside the facility. I focus on practical details that matter when selecting a membership.

When evaluating a fitness center, I usually:

  • Spend sufficient time to understand routines, peak times, and patterns
  • Visit on various days and different times
  • Try multiple training formats and instructors
  • Use the facilities regularly to assess cleanliness and comfort
  • Chat with other members about consistency and variances
  • Take notes right after each visit

I revise reviews when significant changes occur: renovations, changes in management, pricing updates, or new facilities. Each article displays its last updated date so you can gauge how current the information remains.

What I Look For

My priorities may differ from yours, so here’s what matters most to me when assessing a gym:

Comfort and privacy: Does the space feel well-designed for members, with respectful boundaries and a calm vibe?

Equipment quality: Are machines well-maintained? Is there enough variety? Are repairs prompt?

Crowd management: Can you train during your preferred times without constant waiting?

Clean facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Cleanliness shows how seriously management treats the member experience.

Transparent membership practices: Clear pricing, straightforward rules, and no unpleasant surprises.

Beyond the Gym

When not training or writing, I live and work in Toronto. This project aims to simplify fitness choices and make them more transparent for those seeking the right setting.
